Everyone Italian in America

WOW YOU HEARD IT FIRST HERE BELL’ARIA .......

WHY YOU SHOULD BE AT CASA BELVEDERE THE EVENING OF NOVEMBER 29

Thank God you read ..... this Blog …

Someone had a smart idea. A very Italian idea.

To make money by entertaining Italian Americans.

Hold auditions to create a youthful new group of very very talented Italian North American singers who would perform traditional Italian songs for a new generation as thought they had come together by magic rather than in a more thoughtful and business like process.

They would never had met had it not been for Backstage Magazine.

The result is Bell’Aria and they proved the point at Casa Belvedere on the evening of November 18, 2010, billed as “An Evening of Wine & Song. “ If anything the brief appearance by Bell’Aria was even better than the very inviting Banfi wines.

And these are five AUTHENTIC young talented Italians.

The real deal !!!

Best of all Bell’ Aria will be back at Casa Brelvedere for a full performance on Monday evening, November 29th, and then can be enjoyed on PBS in their own special to air during December.

These 5 young Italian authentic ( did I already say that ) singers are on their way to stardom within the Italian American community and probably far beyond. Those reading here have the opportunity to “discover” them before the rest of Italian America upfront and personal in their very intimate concert appearance close by at Casa Belvedere.

At Casa Belvedere they won’t appear out of no where on a stage far far away from your seat or afterwards disappear into the night. No they will be right there for you to savor them up close as they sing to your delight and join in conversation afterwards.

So who are they ?

Best to quote right from their press material and save both of us some time ..

“Bell'Aria is the soundtrack of the Italian-American experience. On their debut album Little Italy, the quintet reinvigorates a bevy of classic Italian-American songs, creating a sonic journey for listeners of all ethnic backgrounds through the rich cultural history Italian immigrants and their descendents have forged in America. Bell'Aria— Gabriel Burrafato, Jessica Carvo, Angelica DiCastro, Christopher Macchio and Miriam Pultro, —pay homage to the likes of Dean Martin, Mario Lanza, and Louis Prima, while adding a fresh, fun and fiery spin on staples.”

What is now a first album and a touring group - Gabriel Burrafato, Jessica Carvo, Angelica DiCastro, Christopher Macchio and Miriam Pultro – started out as nothing more than a small ad in Backstage Magazine. Each of the five came upon the ad in different ways with the same result.

They each found themselves in a Manhattan studio auditioning and being chosen as the 5 best young outstanding Italian American singers 3 female and 2 male – correction 4 Italian American and one Italian Canadian who are just at home singing in Italian as in English.

Back to their press material ….

“One short month after the audition, the group entered the studio to record their interpretations of 12 classics for Bell'Aria's debut. Each fell into his her own groove, and magic was captured in the studio. They also began rehearsing for their debut performance at The Venetian in Las Vegas. The performance happened in August 2010 and was taped for a PBS special set to air in December pledge, coinciding with the first proper tour announcement and album launch.”

And this …..

“ Little Italy, their newly released first album, showcases Bell'Aria's distinct vocal sound and five part harmonies on such cherished classics as "Volare," "That's Amore," "Mambo Italiano" and "Funiculi Funicula.". The group has also put it's own stamp on the Dusty Springfield classic "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" by combining the English version with the original Italian hit, "Io Che Non Vivo (Senza Te)," which is the song that inspired Dusty's legendary version. Though all the songs on Little Italy were written well before any member of the quintet was born, its' the enduring nature of the material that kept these classics in regular play in their homes growing up.”

“The album was produced and arranged by Craig Leon, known for his work with Joshua Bell, Luciano Pavarotti and the legendary film composer Ennio Morricone as well as for his early work with the Ramones and Blondie. On Little Italy Mr. Leon brings together classic Italian repertoire with the best-loved Italian-American songs of the last century.”
