Emily Dickinson's Love of Italy in Her Poetry

Most Emily Dickinson scholars, of which I am one, agree that the iconic American poet’s emotional life can be better reconstructed from the content of her poems than from imaginative research into her biography. It’s edifying to note that her poetry contains a variety of verses in which Italy, it’s culture, and its geography play an important symbolic role. About Me:
I am an American Book Award winning author of 14 books of poetry and prose, a literary critic, essayist, novelist, and retired professor of multicultural literature whose deceased father was born in Puglia, Italia, in 1905. I have won the John Ciardi Award for Lifetime Achievement in Poetry, 2007, The Order of the Sons of Italy, New York State Literary Award, 2008, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Italian American Educators, 2003, My verse is etched in marble on a wall of Penn Station, NY, and I editor www.ItalianAmerianWriters.com/ which is a part of my website www.PoetsUSA.com/ I have two grant awards in poetry from The New York State Council for the Arts and I founded the Bordighera Annual Poetry Prize to promote and publish Italian American poets in bilingual editions each year with Alfredo de Palchi as co-founder, and Anthony J. Favorite Music:
Classical and early music. Baroque. i.e. Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Monteverdi, and jazz of Gershwin, Rogers, Berlin, Count Bassie, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaugh. I was a professional jazz singer of mainstream jazz standards for awhile, but love to listen to classical and Baroque or Early Music when writing and at home. I care for the Arias of Italian Opera, more than for the melodramatic recitative.

PBS: Frontline. Channel 13 Documentaries and Nova Science Show.
