Ciao Chiara, Write to me at bobby@staff.onmilwaukee.com. If you have AIM or iChat, I can give you that, too. We can talk West Village Italians (I'm the son and grandson of some) and also about The Clash, whom I saw while growing up in Brooklyn. :-)
Where did you grow up? I was in Midwood, in the shadow of the D train (now the Q and G line, I think) and I went to Murrow. I graduated the year after Marisa Tomei.
I’m sometimes in Brooklyn to see a film at BAM. My favorite Italian director is Antonioni. I remember seeing his film Blow-Up at BAM a while ago. I’ve seen almost all of his material. I’ve seen La Notte and L’Eclisse; I’ve seen Il Grido on home video. I saw Zabriskie Point at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens. His cinema is so meaningful - it focuses attention on the profound quality of human relationships. All of Italian cinema is special for its beauty and its intelligence.
My superpowers are too numerous to list, but they do not involve running around in spandex and a cape (which is a good thing because although I could get away with that on the Lower East Side of my youth, I cannot get away with that here and now!)
I'm a well published writer, well played musician, with other talents, too. Talents I don't have: I am unable to juggle balls, pins or flaming batons (though I can jungle a 75 students, a writing life, a musician's life, etc), I cannot unicycle, and I cannot whittle. And your superpowers?

How is Brooklyn? It seems like a nice place.
What type of writing do you do? I am into Public relations.
As an Italian/American writer you must have an opinion on the teaching of the Italian language in the United States...
Why don’t you help the i-italy crew to try to save the AP Italian program? Add a comment to the discussion we’ve just started!!!

Thanks for the offer to speak to 'gli anziani' on Wednesday, but unfortunately I'll be at work then. I hope they enjoy the film.
